Supervision: Primary supervisor to 1 PhD Candidate + 2 research assistants and co-supervisor of 2 additional PhD Candidates. I have supervised 1 Master of Research Degree to completion and 1 PhD Candidature to submission (thesis under review), reviewed 2 Masters thesis and will review 1 Honours thesis in 2019.
ECR Representative: From 2015-2017 I was the Macquarie ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) Node ECR representative, organising speakers for a weekly seminar series and promoting cross disciplinary research project initiation and social connections within the 200+ members of CNBP.
Conference organisation: I organised 2 local conferences at Macquarie University- as an organising committee member for 2017 “Nanotechnology meets Bioengineering” Workshop and as a co-organiser for the annual Macquarie Biofocus Conference in 2015 and 2016. These conferences promoted cross-disciplinary collaborations within the university’s medicine, biology, chemistry, biomolecular sciences, physics and engineering departments.
Attended Science Meets Parliament 2018 in Canberra, Australia
I have been invited to do 2 outreach programs organised through CNBP. One of these programs was held in November 2015 with ~100 year 9-11 students at Belmont High School (located near Lake Macquarie, NSW). Another outreach session was held in October 2016 as a part of the SPIE Biophotonics Australasia conference with ~100 year 10 and 11 South Australian students from Concordia College, Seaview High School and Seymour College. These hugely successful half day sessions focused on inspiring the next generation of scientists and included talks and light inspired science demonstrations that I helped to organise and present with Prof Andy Greentree (RMIT), Dr Denitza Denkova and Dr Martin Ploschner.
In February 2016 I was additionally invited to conduct a half day presentation and discussion based outreach session at McMeen Elementary School in Denver, USA while on a visit to the University of Colorado Boulder.
